Field Activity 10CEV02

Identifier 10CEV02
Alternate names MB10
Purpose Document several centuries of environmental and sedimentological changes in Mobile Bay caused by natural and anthropogenic forces.
Location Mobile Bay AL
Summary Approximately 22 cores (10 vibracores, 2-3 gravity cores and 6-7 box cores) will be collected in the field and examined by both the USGS SPCMSC and WHCMSC; all seismic processing will be performed in Woods Hole, MA.
Info derived Ground-truth seismic data, investigation of shallow geologic framework, sediment grain size analysis, identification of Foraminifera presence and abundance and determine lithostratigraphic unit contact boundaries.
Comments Cruise dates may change as they are contingent upon the availability of the R/V G.K. Gilbert.
