Field Activity 1976-009-FA

Identifier 1976-009-FA
Purpose Determine bottom-sediment distribution, suspended-sediment concentration, water color, transparency, and salinity in the Mayaguez-Boqueron area, offshore southwestern Puerto Rico.
Location Mayaguez, Boqueron, Puerto Rico, Caribbean Sea, United States, North America, North Atlantic;
Summary In shallow areas a 17-foot McKee and a 10-1/2 foot inflatable Zodiac were used. Navigation in small boats was usually by horizontal sextant angles. This cruise completes the bottom sampling in the Mayaguez-Boqueron area. With a 1/20,000 scale, 2 meter contour interval bathymetric chart as a guide, 98 bottom samples were collected during this field activity. A total of 256 bottom samples were collected for this area (this includes samples during FA 76002).
