Obtain high-resolution data from eastern portion of St. Croix, in addition to obtaining some core data for ground truth on a suspected sand body. In the Saba Island area off St. Thomas - St. John, make current measurements, obtain surface samples, and core the reef masses to obtain samples for dating.
Location
eastern St. Croix, southern St. Thomas - St. John Platform, U.S. Virgin Islands, United States, Caribbean, North America, North Atlantic;
Summary
Approximately 100 km of high-resolution data were acquired (mostly minisparker). The 1032 system lacked the power to penetrate the hard carbonate surface. The few centimeters of sand could not be resolved. 5 days of continuous current data were acquired, the last two under winter storm conditions. Vibracores: 4; 120 cm drill core: 1 (30 cm recovery); surface samples: 12.
