Field Activity 2001-056-FA

Identifier 2001-056-FA
Alternate names IB G-1-01-GM
Purpose Sustainable Seas Expedition - multidisciplinary cruise with FSU, NOAA and National Geographic. USGS objective is sediment sampling to ground truth previously collected sidescan data and make observations of benthic habitats using Deep Worker one-person submarines with video cameras.
Location Yellowtail Reef, Pinnacles, Madison-Swanson Reserve, Steamboat Lumps Reserve, Florida, northeast Gulf of Mexico, United States, North America, North Atlantic;
Summary Sediment samples are being analyzed for texture and carbonate content in the USGS/Woods Hole sediment lab. Sediment samples were obtained mainly from Yellowtail Reef. Did not do intended ROV work due to operational problems. Sediment samples; Videos (with National Geographic).
