Field Activity 2001-073-FA

Identifier 2001-073-FA
Alternate names ATL6-1B; IB A-1-01-NB
Purpose We collected sediment samples using ALVIN from the Sludge Max Site in the 106 Mile Dumpsite for sewage sludge. Samples were also collected from Grassle's long-term Station 6 by box coring, and from the head of Hudson Canyon from ALVIN. This is a cooperative multidisciplinary and multi-institutional program. Five dives were completed. This cruise was part of the Ocean Exploration Initiative that NOAA is proposing for future federal funding.
Location Hudson Canyon, Deep Water Dump Site 106 (DWDS106), United States, North America, North Atlantic;
Summary Alvin FLUFF samples were collected on three dives. Fluff samples from 5 box cores from MMS Station 6 were collected. Core sections were split for metals, organic geochemistry and Clostridium perfringens analysis.
