Exchange long-term moorings, collect sediment cores, obtain oxygen profiles within surface sediment, collect horse mussels using SCUBA from rocky bottoms near outfall, and deploy benthic chambers to measure fluxes of dissolved constituents in sediment-pore waters.
Location
Massachusetts Bay, Massachusetts, United States, North America, North Atlantic,
Summary
Moorings recovered: 2 (#755 and 756 deployed FA 04016 MARCUS HANNA Feb. 5-6, 2004). Moorings deployed: 3 (#766, 767 and 768 all recovered FA 04032 ABBIE BURGESS Sep. 22-23, 2004). All moorings were successfully replaced. Time series sediment trap did not rotate. Slow corer worked perfectly 8 for 8. Oxygen profiler used 2X at Station 3 and 1X at Station 2. Two benthic chambers deployed at Station 3. Divers (Dann Blackwood and Michael Casso) collected 10 horse mussels and a few brachiopods and one boulder covered with coraline algae and other organisms at MWRA Station T4-4.
