Lab-generated data 2010-107-LW

Identifier 2010-107-LW
Purpose Establish a means of calibrating wave speed measurements made in hydrate-bearing sand by the primary institutions conducting physical property measurements in hydrate-bearing sediment.
Location Gas Hydrate Laboratory, U.S. Geological Survey, Woods Hole Science Center, 384 Woods Hole Road, Woods Hole, MA 02543
Summary This activity is part of an Interlaboratory Comparison Project designed to compare wave speed measurements made in different laboratories, but on identical samples. Data include waveforms measured with shear-wave transducers on dry sand, water-damp sand, fully water-saturated sand, frozen sand, and hydrate-bearing sand. Results are combined with those from 7 other laboratories in an excel spreadsheet and analyzed in a paper presented at the 7th International Conference on Gas Hydrates (July 17-21, 2011, Edinburgh, Scotland).
