Field Activity 2014-336-FA

Identifier 2014-336-FA
Purpose Acquisition of cores used to understand the sub-aqueous geology, and to groundtruth geophysical data collected in June and July from Field Activity Numbers 2014-314-FA and 2014-317-FA.
Location Offshore Breton Island, LA
Info derived Sediment classification and age of deposition, as well as the groundtruthing of previously collected geophysical data. This will be accomplished through visual core descriptions, grain size analysis and Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) age dating.
Comments Funding for the project is supplied by the Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA). The flatbed trailer will also be used for this field activity. Coring operations will be conducted by America Vibracore Services aboard the M/V Thunderforce. Due to the Christmas holiday, the trip may be interrupted.
