Purpose | The geologic record in coastal marshes can provide evidence of extreme events that have impacted an area through washover deposits. The hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes occurring during extreme events are difficult to directly measure because of the rare and destructive nature of the events. We seek to improve the ability to understand depositional processes in washover deposits and interpret the sedimentary record in coastal marshes by investigating the sediment deposits from Hurricane Sandy. | ||||||||
