| Purpose |
The primary purpose of the SALT expeditions is to conduct reconnaissance for deep coral propagation activity in support of the Open Ocean Restoration Plan. SALT 2 will conduct operations in the mesophotic zone (< 300 m) from May 31- June 11, 2022 using a science class ROV to obtain, supply, and distribute coral samples and livestock to shoreside partners for coral husbandry, population genetics, microbial ecology and reproductive biology studies. |
