Field Activity B176HW

Identifier B176HW
Alternate names B-1-76-HW
Purpose To evaluate the marine geology offshore of the city of Kahului, Maui, Hawaii.
Description United States Geological Survey, Menlo Park, California,United States Geological Survey, Water Resources Division. Chief Scientist: Steve Wolf. Geophysical data (uniboom) of field activity B-1-76-HW in Kahului, Hawaii from 02/21/1976 to 02/28/1976
Location Hawaii
Summary The geophysical method of continuous seismic profiling was used. An EG and G uniboom system was used aboard a small diving boat for the operation. The system was operated at 1/4 second firing rate on a 1/4 second sweep at a power output of 200-400 joules. This system in practice gives resolution of geologic units on the order of the 1-3 feet to penetrable depths of 100-300 feet below the sea floor.
Info derived Seismic reflection profiles.
