Field Activity 1980-017-FA

Identifier 1980-017-FA
Alternate names 80-C-1
Purpose Determine the salient sub-bottom, bathymetric, and surficial features within Nueces Bay and the lower portion of the Nueces River.
Location Nueces Estuary, Corpus Christi, Texas, Gulf of Mexico, United States, North America, North Atlantic;
Summary 45 km each of high-resolution, bathymetric, and sidescan data was acquired. Due to a combination of unfamiliarity with sediment types and their effect on resolution and instrumentation difficulties, the quality of high-resolution and bathymetric data ranges from poor to acceptable. The sidescan data is excellent.
Comments A very special thanks is extended to Charles Deadmon and James Willingham whose onshore efforts were a great aid to the completion of this cruise.
