Field Activity 1985-037-FA

Identifier 1985-037-FA
Alternate names 85 Leg 3B; FRNL 85-3B
Purpose To ensonify the central region of the Cayman Trough with the GLORIA sidescan system.
Location Cayman Trough, Cayman Islands, Caribbean Sea, North America, North Atlantic;
Summary The Cayman Trough is a narrow rectangular deep which contains a sea floor spreading system. The survey took place over the coastal region of the spreading ridge and along one line to the eastern extremity of the Trough. These data provide detailed information of the history of spreading in the trough and thus the nature of the northern Caribbean plate boundary.
