Field Activity 1989-006-FA

Identifier 1989-006-FA
Alternate names PA1-89; ANDERSON 89-1
Purpose The primary objective for this cruise is to acquire the first complete sidescan sonar coverage of an 81 square kilometer area that includes the proposed outfall site. Other objectives were to collect high-resolution seismic reflection and bathymetric data throughout the survey area and to collect sediment samples and take photographs and video of the sea floor at specific targets, identified using the sidescan results.
Location Massachusetts Bay, Massachusetts, United States, North America, North Atlantic,
Summary Sidescan sonar coverage: 67 square kilometers. The sidescan-sonar records were of excellent quality over most of the study area.
