Recover and measure properties of gas hydrates. Transport, under in situ pressure and temperature conditions, intact gas hydrate samples to Woods Hole for testing in GHASTLI. Quantify amount of in situ gas hydrates (GH), lateral extent; assess interaction between BSR and amount/location of GH; investigate sediment fabric near GH; assess physical property changes in sediment associated with formation/decomposition of GH; determine origin of gas in GH, GH influence on authigenic carbonates; measure chemical and isotopic composition, hydration number and crystal structure of GH gas, influence of GH on fluid migration, GH dissociation on slope instability, relationship between Carolina Rise diapirs, GH and origin of diapirs.
