Field Activity 2006-016-FA

Identifier 2006-016-FA
Purpose Survey a previously observed sand wave field northwest of Great Ledge at slack low and slack high water to determine if these sand waves change during the tidal cycle.
Location Woods Hole Passage, Massachusetts, United States, North America, North Atlantic;
Summary Two surveys of the sand wave field at the east end of Woods Hole Passage with the multibeam system were completed. Current measurement was attempted, and the results were good enough to obtain a mean velocity at flood. No grab samples were attempted. This trip was a good test of the new system on the GLORIA MICHELLE. We found there were still kinks to work out, but the data collected were adequate for basic assessment.
