Purpose Collect pre-spawning adult river herring from Trunk River in order to determine the flux of mercury in this coastal ecosystem by way of migrating fish. Continue the time-series of Hg data on herring started with the migration of 2008.

Summary One male adult herring was collected on the evening of April 4 and two female adult herring were collected on April 5, 2011 as they migrated upstream in Trunk River near the bike path bridge. The fish were weighed, length measured, and subsampled for total mercury concentration. The eggs were also analyzed for mercury.
