To measure methane and carbon dioxide in the air and water of the Arctic Ocean.
Location
Beaufort and Chukchi Seas
Summary
Methane and carbon dioxide in air (3 elevations above the ocean: 35 feet, 50 feet, and 105 feet) and surface water were measured during transits, transects, and while on CTD / mooring station in the Arctic Ocean. Additionally samples were collected vertically from CTD casts and analyzed for methane. Atmospheric measurements (wind speed, direction, temperature) were made by 3 AirMars mounted at 3 different elevations above the ocean. Temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, salinity, pH, and ORP measurements were made by a YSI water parameter sonde.

Comments
Cavity Ring Down Spectrometer (CRDS) equipment will be used for measuring methane and carbon dioxide. Additionally we will collect weather data and water samples.
