Field Activity 2024-008-FA

Identifier 2024-008-FA
Alternate names Trunk River Thermal Tests
Purpose Test our two thermal cameras with different collection parameters to determine the best method for detecting groundwater discharge.
Location Trunk River
Summary Two cameras were mounted to a DJI Matrice 600 UAS to collect simultaneous thermal imagery. The comparative test was to determine whether one of the cameras was reporting erroneous data and if it was possible to see temperature variations in the water with the camera that was operating normally. Videos and images were collected during the short flight and viewed back in the office. No data is planned to be published from this field activity.
Info derived thermal imagery, natural color imagery
Comments The data will also be collected with a DJI XT2 thermal camera and a FLIR Vue Pro thermal camera. The XT2 is owned by the USGS National Uncrewed Systems Office, and the FLIR Vue Pro is owned by the USGS Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Water Science Center.
