Field Activity 94SSF01

Identifier 94SSF01
Alternate names G-1-94-FL
Purpose Understand the geologic evolution of the coast and inner cont. shelf and aid in coastal management. By investigating the subsurface sediment facies present on the shelf and determine the relationship among facies and with the underlying carbonate platform.
Location West-central Florida shelf; Anclote Key (north) and Venice Inlet to the, Florida to 30 km offshore., Florida
Summary 123 cores collected and analyzed from Oct. 1994 to Sept. 1997. 24 cores collected in 1994 as part of the COE section of the project, 18 of them where cut and cores analyzed.
Info derived Grain size, calcium carbonate content and total organic content for all cores. Select samples mineralogy by XRD analysis and age dating by carbon 14 or Sr-isotope ratio.
