To collect sediment samples from Tokeland and Kindred Island for thermoluminescence dating
Description
United States Geological Survey, Menlo Park, California. Chief Scientist: Guy Gelfenbaum. Sediment Sampling data (handsamplegrab) of field activity G-1-01-WA in Tokeland and Kindred Island Washington from 02/23/2001 to 02/23/2001
Location
Tokeland and Kindred Island Washington
Summary
Holes were dug at one location on Tokeland and one location on Kindred Island. Two samples for thermoluminescence testing were taken at depth from each hole. Four bulk samples were taken in each hole, two at depth and two near the surface. One of each will be used for background OSL levels and the other will be petrographically analyzed.
Info derived
Time passed since sediment was last exposed at surface, petrographic analysis
Comments
All samples were collected for and shipped to Robert Morton with the St. Petersburg, FL office where the petrographic analysis will be performed. Thermoluminescence dating will be done by a USGS lab in Denver.
