Abstract:
1-m resolution bathymetry data were collected during a February 2013 SWATHPlus survey offshore of the Hawaiian Islands of Maui and Kaho`olawe. Data were collected and processed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC), with fieldwork activity number A-01-13-HW. The 1-m bathymetry data are provided as a GeoTIFF file.
Purpose:
In February 2013, staff from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) collected bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data offshore the islands of Maui (Olowalu, Pu`unoa Point) and Kaho`olawe (Kuia Shoal), Hawaii using an interferometric bathymetric sidescan sonar system mounted to the hull of the vessel AlyceC. The acquisition was conducted to support seafloor characterization and benthic habitat mapping efforts in selected nearshore coral reef environments of Hawaii. These data are intended for science researchers, students, policy makers, and the general public. These data can be used with geographic information systems or other software to identify bathymetric features. These data are not intended to be used for navigation.
