Abstract:
This portion of the data release provides geochemical analyses data of ferromanganese rock samples collected off the coast of Hawaii. Ferromanganese crusts, nodules, and coated cobbles were collected via ROV from seamounts within the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument (PMNM) in the Pacific Ocean during E/V Nautilus expeditions NA134 and NA138 in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Ferromanganese rock samples were sent to USGS for subsampling and major and trace element geochemical analyses. Major and trace element data as well as location information (latitude, longitude, depth) for each sample are provided here.
Purpose:
These data serve to expand the knowledge and statistics for deep ocean marine mineral occurrences and composition within the global ocean.

Limits for each analyte's detection by an instrument are reported in the table. Values of -9999 for concentration attributes indicate that no analysis was performed. Values of -9999 for detection limit attributes indicate that no information was available. Values of NaN for method attributes indicate that no information was available in columns containing text.

USGS values are still reported here as they more accurately represent total sorbed water. NA138-033-Bulk and NA138-091-B-Bulk did not have USGS H2OM values due to limited sample, for these samples an average of NA138 USGS H2O- values was used. NA138-033-Bulk has no reported Actlabs H20M value, averaged Actlabs H2OM values were used to generate normalized concentrations for NA138-033-Bulk.
