Why was the data set created?

Map and interpret the shallow morphostratigraphy of the delta plain using seismics and cores. This cruise is a continuation (3rd year of the USGS-LGS co-op on barrier island erosion) of the high-resolution seismic reflection profiling on the nearshore and inner shelf west of the Mississippi River delta. Additional survey and data details are available at http://cmgds.marine.usgs.gov/fan_info.php?fan=1988-008-FA.
