Los Angeles Margin Perspective View of colored shaded-relief bathymetry

Perspective view looking northeast toward the Santa Monica Mountains in northern Santa Monica Bay. The distance across the bottom of the image is about 9 km with a vertical exaggeration of 6x. Large channels (240 m wide and up to 20 m deep at "A") decrease in size from west to east as the slope gradient and height decrease. The large channels on the steep slope give way to smaller gullies (150 m wide and less than 1 m deep at "B") on the apron. The edge of Santa Monica Canyon can be seen on the far right of the image.
