Oblique view of Lake Tahoe shaded-relief bathymetry looking south from Incline Village in Crystal Bay towards the south end of the lake. The distance across the bottom of the image is approximately 2.5 km. The image has a vertical exaggeration of 3 times the horizontal distance. The colored region is the lake floor, while the gray-scale region is the surrounding land. The feature in the foreground is a perched channel bounded on the west by a 250-m-high fault ridge. The channel is 80 m below the crest of the fault ridge. Sediments have been funneled down the channel from the area of Incline Village and have ponded out onto the basin floor. Sand waves up to 8 m high and 150 m between crests occur within the channel and indicate vigorous downslope sediment movement during sediment transport. The background shows the scattered large blocks that resulted from a debris avalanche when the mid-western margin collapsed.
