The distance across the bottom of the image is approximately 5 km. The image has a vertical exaggeration of 3 times the horizontal distance. The colored region is the lake floor, while the gray-scale region is the surrounding land. A broad glacial outwash fan blankets the southern margin of the lake and is in turn traversed by a series of channels. A series of small, linear gullies cut the margin directly below Emerald Bay. A hanging valley perched 250 m above the lake floor is seen on the far right of the image, a relict of a glacier that once fed directly into the lake basin.
