Scientific Purpose/Goals: Document several centuries of environmental and sedimentological changes in Mobile Bay caused by natural and anthropogenic forces.

Information to be Derived: Ground-truth seismic data, investigation of shallow geologic framework, sediment grain size analysis, identification of Foraminifera presence and abundance and determine lithostratigraphic unit contact boundaries.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Approximately 22 cores (10 vibracores, 2-3 gravity cores and 6-7 box cores) will be collected in the field and examined by both the USGS SPCMSC and WHCMSC; all seismic processing will be performed in Woods Hole, MA.
