Other ID: Sacramento River Real-time PIV

Status: Pending

Organization(s): USGS, Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center

Funding Program(s): Other (Other)

Principal Investigator(s): Jennifer Cramer

Affiliate Investigator(s): Carl Legleiter - USGS Water Mission Area (PI for Project); Paul Kinzel - USGS Water Mission Area; Lee Harrison - NOAA

Information Specialist(s):

Data Type(s): Location-Elevation: Navigation, Environmental Data: Current, Environmental Data: Temperature, Environmental Data: Depth, Location-Elevation: LIDAR, Imagery: Photo

Scientific Purpose/Goals: To collect video imagery of the Sacramento River to test real-time PIV technology.

Vehicle(s):

Start Port/Location: Glenn, CA

End Port/Location: Glenn, CA

Start Date: 2024-09-16

End Date: 2024-09-19

Equipment Used: DJI Matrice, SonTek M9 ADCP, River Observing System (RiOS), Micasense Rededge-P Dual System, HOBO logger, YellowScan Mapper +, Skydio X10

Information to be Derived: Flow velocity, elevation, natural color (RGB) imagery, and multispectral reflectance imagery.

Summary of Activity and Data Gathered: Video imagery was collected using the USGS/NASA RiOS payload. Aerial images were collected of the river and surrounding terrain using a Skydio X10 UAS and a 10-band Micasense Rededge Dual camera system equipped to a DJI Matrice 600 UAS.
