Seafloor characterization of top of Atlantis II seamount.
Location
Atlantis II Seamount
Summary
The original plan to survey the top of the Atlantis II Seamount was cancelled on 6 Mar because USBL communication "challenges" between Ocean Infinity's (contractor) Hugin AUV and the R/V Atlantis. Instead, it was decided to collect data in 2 areas of the continental shelf using the EM 124 multibeam, and Knudsen 3260 sub bottom sonars. Towards the end of the survey, two short AUV missions were conducted in shallow shelf waters without reliable USBL navigation as a demonstration.
Info derived
Multibeam depth and backscatter, subbottom profiles, and seafloor photographs from Hugin 6000 AUV.
