To collect sediment, gas and water samples from a gas hydrate reservoir system as the system is cored, then collect gas and water as the gas hydrate reservoir itself is depressurized to release methane from the gas hydrate.
Location
Coring and production test sampling will occur at Site 7-11-12, in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, Alaska north slope
Summary
Building on logging-while-drilling and sidewall pressure coring efforts at the site in 2018 (stratigraphic test well), an extended gas hydrate production test program has been developed. In 2022, a Geodata well will be drilled, with pressure coring to provide sediment, fluid and gas for analysis. A Production Test Well will be drilled immediately thereafter, and this well will be used to depressurize the gas hydrate reservoir and collect the produced methane and pore waters for an extended-duration test intended to last one year.
