Title:
Bathymetry, topography, and sediment grain-size data from the Elwha River delta, Washington
Abstract:
This data release contains bathymetry and topography data from surveys performed on the Elwha River delta between 2010 and 2017. Sediment grain-size data are available for selected surveys performed after May 2012. This data release will be updated as additional bathymetry, topography, and surface-sediment grain-size data from future surveys become available.

Why was the data set created?

Data were obtained to assess the coastal geomorphic response following the removal of two dams on the Elwha River. These data are intended for science researchers, students, policy makers, and the general public. These data can be used with geographic information systems or other software to identify topographic and shallow-water bathymetric features.

How was the data set created?

A web page was developed to tie together previously published bathymetry, topography, and surface-sediment grain-size data collected on the Elwha River delta, Washington under one digital object identifier. This data release contains bathymetry and topography data from surveys performed on the Elwha River delta between 2010 and 2016. Sediment grain-size data are available for selected surveys performed after May 2012. This data release will be updated as additional bathymetry, topography, and surface-sediment grain-size data from future surveys become available.

The recently published data release (https://doi.org/10.5066/P9AJ8ALB) for data collected in July 2017 was moved under this umbrella page. Line 1 in paragraph 2 of the ScienceBase page Summary section was updated, and a line for this data release was added to Table 1. The USGS Field Activity Number (FAN) was added to the Supplemental Information section of this metadata file, and the Keywords, Point of Contact, and Metadata Contact sections were updated to current PCMSC standards.
