Data in this report are provided with spatial coordinates to enable integration within a Geographic Information System (GIS). A GIS is defined as a system of hardware and software to support the display, manipulation, and analysis of spatial data for mapping and complex data solving. The software provides researchers the ability to integrate, analyze and map the various datasets within a spatially-aware environment. This project uses the Environmental Systems Research Institute's (ESRI) ArcGIS software as its Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping tool. Data layers archived here should not require additional processing to be utilized within the ESRI software. A user may wish to do additional processing, especially if utilizing a different GIS software package or spheroid. Viewing the dataThe files provided in this publication have been assembled into an ESRI ArcMap v9.2 project file (OFR2007_1017.mxd) and an ArcView v3.3 project file (OFR2007_1017.apr) for visualization and analysis. For users without this software, the individual files available for download in the data catalog below are capable of being utilized in many other GIS software programs. The individual files are available in a 'zip' compressed archive file and contain all necessary elements that compose the data layer. Compressed downloadable files were created using the Windows program WINZIP v9.0. For those users who do not have software capable of uncompressing the zip files, they may obtain a free version of the software from Winzip Computing, Inc. (www.winzip.com) or Pkware, Inc (www.pkware.com/). To view the data, download the desired project file above. The data layers are available for download in the Data Catalog table below. It is recommended that the individual data layers be saved to a “data” folder and organized into subfolders based on the structure outlined in the far left column (don’t forget to uncompress all of the zip files). Save the .apr or .mxd file to the same location as the “data” folder and when launched, the project file will load with all of the available data. ProjectionAll files available in the data catalog below are provided in geographic coordinates referenced to the NAD83 datum. MetadataFederal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata for the individual data layers is provided as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) files. The metadata will open in a new browser window when selected for each file from the table below. Metadata is also included as part of the downloadable package in Extensible Markup Language (XML) format. Data Catalog
