Thumbnail view of Duwamish Head
Larger View (437kb)
Duwamish Head: Color-coded shaded-relief bathymetry around the northern tip of Duwamish Head, Seattle, WA. Colors show relative depths with reds representing shallower regions and blues representing deeper regions. The bathymetry data in this image have 4-m spatial resolution with depths ranging from 1m to 140m. The distance across the bottom of the image is 2.2km. The land is a USGS digital orthophoto quadrangle coregistered and draped over a USGS 10-m DEM. The large failure to the west of Duwamish Head (A) occurred in 1986. The series of landslides to the east of Duwamish Head (B) are undated but appear young. Larger View (437kb)
Thumbnail view of Nisqually Delta to the northeast
Larger View (83kb)
Oblique view of Nisqually delta: Color-coded shaded-relief bathymetry of Nisqually delta, WA looking northeast. Colors show relative depths with reds representing shallower regions and blues representing deeper regions. The bathymetry data have 3-m spatial resolution with depths ranging from 1m to 130m. The distance across the bottom of the image is about 6km. The false sun illumination is from 315°,45° elevation and the vertical exaggeration is10 x. The gray land image is generated from 10-m USGS DEMs. Larger View (83kb)
Thumbnail view of Nisqually Delta to the southwest
Larger View (93kb)
Oblique view of Nisqually delta: Color-coded shaded-relief bathymetry of Nisqually delta, WA looking southwest. Colors show relative depths with reds representing shallower regions and blues representing deeper regions. The bathymetry data have 3-m spatial resolution with depths ranging from 1m to 130m. The distance across the bottom of the image is about 5km. The false sun illumination is from 315°,45° elevation and the vertical exaggeration is10 x. The gray land image is generated from 10-m USGS DEMs. Larger View (93kb)
Thumbnail view disposal site on Puyallup delta
Larger View (128kb)
Oblique view of Puyallup delta: Color-coded shaded-relief of Puyallup delta, Tacoma, WA looking southeast. Colors show relative depths with reds representing shallower regions and blues representing deeper regions. The bathymetry data have 3-m spatial resolution with depths in this image ranging from 1m to about 130m. The distance across the bottom of the image is about 2.5km. The false sun illumination is from 315°, 45° elevation and the vertical exaggeration is 10 x. The land is a USGS digital orthophoto quadrangle coregistered and draped over a USGS 10-m DEM. The large deposit in the middle of the view is a disposal site abandoned in the mid 1980s and has since been split by a slump. The large landslide scar on the right side of image was caused by an 1894 landslide. Notice other landslides along the delta front. Larger View (128kb)
Thumbnail view of sand boils on Puyallup delta
Larger View (99kb)
Oblique View of Puyallup delta sandboils: Oblique view of 1-m-resolution bathymetry along the northeast edge of Puyallup delta, WA. Colors show relative depths with reds representing shallower regions and greens representing deeper regions. Depths in this image range from 9m to about 50m. The distance across the bottom of the image is about 400m. Notice the series of expulsion pits running from lower right to upper middle of image. Expulsion features such as these are common in areas that have had severe ground shaking. Also notice the arcuate head scarp in lower right of view. This appears to be an incipient failure. Larger View (99kb)
Thumbnail view of bathymetry off Seattle Harbor
Larger View (107kb)
Seattle Harbor Oblique: Color-coded shaded-relief bathymetry of Duwamish delta, Seattle, WA looking southeast. Colors show relative depths with reds representing shallower regions and greens representing deeper regions. The bathymetry data in this image have 4-m spatial resolution with depths ranging from 1m to 100m. The distance across the bottom of the images is 1.3km. Land is a USGS digital orthophoto quadrangle coregistered and draped over ta USGS 10-m DEM. A disposal site is in the left foreground. Notice the large failure on the left side of the right side waterway. Also notice numerous landslides along the delta front. Larger View (107kb)
