Funding for USGS participants on the 2005 Sri Lanka ITST came from the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program, Dr. John Haines, Program Coordinator. The National Science Foundation and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute provided funding for most of the members on the Sri Lanka ITST. We would like to thank Professor Phillip Liu, Cornell University, for organizing the team. Rohan Fernando, Upali Group of Companies, coordinated logistics in Sri Lanka. We thank Professor Dharmaratne, Chairman, and Sarath Weerawarnakula, Director, of the Geological Survey & Mines Bureau of Sri Lanka for the support of the GSMBSL scientists who participated in the survey. Jean Weaver, USGS/GD International Programs, assisted in arranging for participation of the USGS personnel. We send our condolences for those lost in the tsunami. We thank the people of Sri Lanka for their warm welcome and support, and wish them a rapid recovery in these difficult times.
